FOCUS – Eposode 01
In early December I had the opportunity to head over to the Eastern Sierras with a few buddies. The Sierra Standard and Sierra Slammers, a custom bait company, invited me out to explore and take some photographs and video. With a busy life and growing family at home, it’s hard for me to get away, but I try to take every opportunity that comes my way to explore new things, and of course grab awesome footage.
I have been wanting to get the Yuneec Typhoon H out into the Winter wilderness for a while, and this turned out to be the perfect opportunity to grab some footage. I also have been wanting to start a series for our YouTube channel. If you haven’t yet, make sure to subscribe!
The FOCUS series will be dedicated to anything and everything cinematic. Whether it is cinematic videos such as this, daily life videos, or other content, it all goes. My one stipulation for the series is that I be passionate about what is being shot. I want my heart to go into this series, and I hope that can show through over time.
Along with the Typhoon H, this is my first video shot in 4K with the 1DX Mark II camera. I have been curious as to how my 2015 MacBook Pro would handle the large motion jpeg files. Not only did I not have to create proxies in order to edit the footage, but the process was a breeze. I simply edited them in 1/8 scale, and the laptop had no problems with editing or scrubbing through footage, even the 4K 60fps clips. If you are worried about that issue with a 5D Mark IV, I wouldn’t be.
